Description:
An EP lab tech, short for Electrophysiology Laboratory Technician, works in the electrophysiology lab at a hospital or similar medical facility to monitor and support patients undergoing procedures related to the hearts electrical system. Duties involve operating specialized electrophysiology equipment to help detect and treat abnormal heart rhythms (arrhythmias), taking patient medical histories, and assisting physicians with other tasks as needed during procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Operates and monitors electrophysiology recording systems and mapping equipment during EP studies and ablation procedures.
  • Helps physicians diagnose and treat cardiac arrhythmias and electrical conduction disorders.
  • Assists physicians during invasive procedures, including catheter ablations, pacemaker implants, and ICD placements.
