Job Summary

This senior machinist role involves leading advanced machining operations for mission-critical components. Ideal for a highly skilled machinist who thrives in focused, precise work supporting next-generation innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to design/optimize tooling, fixtures, and machining processes.
  • Perform advanced inspections using precision instruments; validate critical dimensions and tolerances.
  • Troubleshoot high-complexity machining issues and support root cause analysis for quality deviations.
  • Serve as technical mentor and trainer for Machinist I–III team members.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, quality, and cost reduction.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams for new product introductions and process validations.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of machining processes, setups, and improvements.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by manager/supervisor.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED (required); associate degree or technical certification (strongly preferred).
  • 5–10+ years of machining experience, including advanced CNC programming and setup with Lathes or Mills.
  • Ability to program CNC machines from scratch at the machine (G-code and/or conversational programming).
  • Capable of taking a drawing/blueprint and writing a program directly at the machine.
  • Proficient in interpreting complex blueprints.
  • Advanced inspection skills, including use of comparators and other precision tools.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
  • Demonstrated reliability, good attendance, and positive team-oriented attitude (highly valued by the company).

Preferred Requirements

  • Proficiency with CAD/CAM software (though shop programming is currently done at the machine, not via offline CAD/CAM).
  • Familiarity with multi-axis machining systems and a variety of machine controls (no specific brand required; experience with conversational controls like Mazatrol or Herco is helpful).
  • Experience with OD grinding, and/or surface grinding.
  • Leadership and mentoring experience with junior machinists.
  • Proficient in applying GD&T

Compensation/Benefits
