Job Description

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, seeks a highly motivated faculty member to serve as an Associate Director of the Clinical Microbiology Laboratory. This position is open rank and track (tenure- track, tenured, fixed-term, or variable track) based on the candidate’s experience. 

The successful candidate will serve as the Director of Bacteriology and Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing for UNC Health Care and is expected to provide technical expertise at a health care system level. They will work closely with and be a resource for pediatric and adult infectious disease services and hospital epidemiology and infection control, among other clinical services. The candidate will be a faculty member of the CPEP-accredited post-doctoral fellowship in Medical and Public Health Microbiology and will be actively involved in teaching medical students, graduate students, residents, and fellows. Information about UNC Health Care can be found here: Minimum Education and Experience Requirements The candidate must have a PhD, MD or MD/PhD and be board certified or board eligible in Medical Microbiology by either the American Board of Medical Microbiology or the American Board of Pathology. Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience Candidates should have a demonstrated record of academic achievement through independent or collaborative research and scholarly publications.
