About the project: Unnat Maharashtra Abhiyan’ (UMA) is a programme of the Department of Higher and Technical Education, Government of Maharashtra, designed and implemented by the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (IITB). IITB-UMA team designed and executed different project activities under the UMA project of IIT Bombay.


The key objectives of the project are to:

  • Reform teaching, curricula and research to cater development needs of Maharashtra
  • Create academic space for projects and studies in domains relevant to development
  • Train future professionals for development objectives
