What you’ll do?
The Account Director for Higher Education is accountable for leading and growing a portfolio of multi university customers, balancing time between on campus engagement and office-based strategy development. The role is centred on driving revenue and long-term account value through the sale of end user computing, audiovisual, and networking solutions and services.
Acting as the primary commercial and strategic lead, the Account Director builds strong executive relationships, uncovers new opportunities, and shapes solution roadmaps that align to each institution’s priorities. By coordinating internal specialists and partners, the role ensures high quality delivery, strong governance, and consistent account performance. Its core purpose is to expand market presence, achieve sales targets, and position Compnow as a trusted technology partner across the Higher Education sector.
- Lead and grow a portfolio of multi university accounts, maintaining strong executive and operational relationships across each institution.
- Develop and execute strategic account plans that drive revenue growth, solution adoption, and long term customer value.
- Identify, qualify, and close opportunities across EUC, AV, and Networking solutions and associated services.
- Conduct regular on campus engagement to deepen client understanding, uncover new needs, and strengthen partnership alignment.
- Coordinate internal technical specialists, solution architects, and delivery teams to shape and present compelling solution proposals.
- Oversee end to end sales cycles, including forecasting, pipeline management, commercial negotiation, and contract governance.
- Ensure high quality delivery outcomes by maintaining strong oversight of project performance, customer satisfaction, and risk management.
- Act as the primary escalation point for account related issues, ensuring timely resolution and maintaining customer confidence.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and sector developments to inform account strategy and identify new growth opportunities.
- Represent Compnow at Higher Education events, forums, and industry engagements to strengthen brand presence and thought leadership.
- Maintain accurate CRM records, reporting, and account documentation to support governance and business planning.
- Collaborate with marketing, product, and partner teams to develop targeted campaigns and solution offerings for the Higher Education sector.
What you’ll bring?
- Minimum of five years’ experience in enterprise sales or strategic account management, within the IT industry.
- Proven track record of managing large, complex customers with multiple stakeholders and long sales cycles.
- Broad understanding of IT infrastructure, end user computing, audiovisual technologies, and networking solutions.
- Strong relationship building skills with the ability to engage confidently at executive and operational levels.
- Excellent communication and presentation capabilities, able to articulate complex solutions clearly and persuasively.
- Collaborative mindset, actively contributing to team culture and making a genuine effort to integrate and work well with others.
- Proactive problem solver with a strategic mindset and the ability to anticipate customer needs.
- Self-motivated and accountable, consistently driving outcomes and meeting performance expectations.
What else do you need to apply?
- Travel on-site to our office in Alexandria and to client sites across Sydney.
- Must be an Australian resident available to work full time without restrictions
