Position Overview
The Accounting Manager is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing financial and HR operations, ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and efficiency of all accounting, reporting, and human resources functions. Given FÜM’s dynamic and fast-growing environment, the Accounting Manager must be adaptable and prepared to take on additional responsibilities as needed.
Role Mission
The mission of the Accounting Manager is to ensure FÜM’s financial health by maintaining accurate financial records, optimizing reporting processes, and ensuring compliance with government and regulatory requirements in both Canada and the USA. Additionally, this role provides oversight of HR functions, ensuring that payroll, employee records, and compliance measures align with company policies and legal obligations.
Responsibilities
The Accounting Manager is responsible for managing the financial and HR functions across the company’s operations in Canada and the USA. Responsibilities include:
- Oversee accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
- Ensure timely and accurate financial results, including financial statements.
- Manage and streamline financial processes within QuickBooks Online (QBO), integrating various revenue sources, including Fulfil ERP.
- Oversee the filing of sales tax returns via Numeral and ensure compliance with tax regulations.
- Manage Canadian federal and provincial tax remittances.
- Lead financial audits in collaboration with the CFO and ensure audit readiness.
- Drive process improvements and automation to enhance financial efficiency.
HR Oversight & Compliance
- Maintain and manage the HRIS system for accurate employee records.
- Oversee payroll processing and compliance with labor laws using Rippling.
- Ensure timely completion of HR reports and filings.
- Support HR policies, employee documentation, and policy adherence.
- Partner with leadership to ensure compliance with employment regulations and required filings.
Key Performance Indicators
- Financial Accuracy & Compliance: Maintain accurate, compliant accounting records.
- Timely Reporting: Keep financial records updated for decision-making.
- HR & Payroll Compliance: Ensure accurate payroll and legal compliance.
- Experience: 5+ years in accounting or finance leadership with cross-border operations.
- Knowledge: Strong GAAP knowledge and experience with audits.
- Systems: Proficiency in QuickBooks Online, Numeral, and ERP systems (preferably Fulfil).
- Skills: Problem-solving and proactive process improvement skills.
Role responsibilities are expected to be met without fixed hours, with availability for team communication Monday-Friday 08:00-16:00 MST.
The pay range for this role is:
CA$85,000 - CA$110,000 per year
