Job Title: AP Team Leader

Location: Gurgaon, India

Reports To: US Manager

Role Overview

We are seeking an Accounts Payable Team Lead to join our Global Shared Services team in India. This position will be responsible for Management and mentoring a team size of 6 – 8 members.

This position reports directly to the Global AP + Shared Services Manager (based in North America).


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and mentor the AP team to achieve performance targets and service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Build a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and collaboration
  • Oversee invoice receipt, validation, approval workflows, and payment processing.
  • Guide and ensure accurate matching of purchase orders, receipts, and invoices.
  • Implement and monitor policies related to travel, expenses, and vendor payments
  • Standardization and automation of AP processes across regions
  • Identify opportunities for efficiency gains and implement best practices
  • Manage supplier relationships, resolve disputes, and reconcile supplier statements.
  • Collaborate with procurement, finance, and other departments to ensure seamless operations
  • Prepare and Action AP metrics, aging reports, and cash flow forecasts.
  • Oversee ERP systems and expense platforms (e.g., Basware, JDE and Concur).
  • Champion digital transformation initiatives within the Purchase-to-Pay process.
  • Support Master Data Management (MDM) updates and maintenance.
  • Participate in ad-hoc projects and provide transactional support as requested
  • Skills and Qualifications:

    Must Have:

  • B. Com, CA Inter, CMA Inter, MBA Finance
  • 10+ years of experience, at least 4 years of team handling experience
  • Team Leadership, Stakeholder management, Decision making, Root cause analysis
  • Deep understanding of end-to-end AP processes, including invoice processing, payment runs, and vendor reconciliation
  • Strong Excel skills (e.g. Pivot tables, XLOOKUPS)
  • Hands-on experience with platforms like SAP, Oracle, or similar ERP systems (JD Edwards Preferred)
  • Ability to identify inefficiencies and implement automation or standardization initiatives.
  • Ability to manage recurring deadlines with high accuracy.
  • Clear and proactive communication with global teams
  • Bring great energy and have a great sense of fun!
  • Good to have:

  • Experience with AP automation tools (Basware Preferred)
  • Advance excel and data analytics
  • Exposure of Retail or manufacturing accounting experience
  • Exposure of Audit support and internal controls
