Position Information Job Title Adjunct Instructor-Wastewater-Wilkes Campus Job Description The instructor will develop and deliver training classes on the operation, maintenance, and safety of wastewater treatment facilities to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and enhance operational efficiency. Full Time or Part Time Part Time Essential Duties Summary

  • Develop Training Programs: Develop detailed training programs that thoroughly cover all aspects of wastewater treatment processes.


  • Conduct Training Sessions: Provide classroom training to students.


  • Technical Instruction: Teach the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of treatment plant equipment.


  • Compliance and Safety: Ensure trainees understand and adhere to environmental regulations and safety protocols.


  • Assessment: Administer tests and maintain records of student progress.


  • Field Trips: Organize visits to wastewater treatment sites for practical learning experiences.


  • Stay Updated: Keep abreast of advancements in treatment technologies and regulatory change.


  • Documentation: Ensure all required documentation of class completion is accurately submitted to the appropriate agencies.
  • Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma

  • Prior experience in wastewater treatment operations or a related field

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively design, teach and deliver programs to students

  • Proficient in wastewater treatment technology and compliance

  • Certifications in Wastewater Biological Operator 1, 2, 3 & 4
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in teaching or training whether in informal or formal settings.

  • Certifications in Physical Chemical Operator 1 & 2

  • Certifications in Collections Grade 1, 2, 3 & 4
  • Physical Demands Working Conditions: Work is primarily performed under general supervision in an office or classroom setting with appropriate climate controls. Travel, early morning, evening, and weekend work may be required.

    Essential functions of this position require lifting, manual dexterity, ability to communicate.

    Medium work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally; involves sitting only occasionally, walking and standing are required regularly, incumbents may be required to kneel, crouch/squat, crawl, climb, stoop, turn/twist, balance, reach, or handle.

    Mental Application: Utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability, critical thinking, adaptability, and creative problem-solving skills are important.
