Northern Health are seeking applications from a motivated and suitably experienced Administration Officer to join the Merri-bek Community Mental Health Team based.
Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community and home-based services in Melbourne’s rapidly growing outer north.
Services are provided through our six main campuses:
Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn and Mernda Community Hospitals Centres and Kilmore District Hospital. In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park, Mernda and Coburg.
About the Role:
An exciting opportunity exists for an Administration Officer to join the Merri-bek Community Team within Northern Health’s Mental Health Division. We are located centrally in Coburg – close to Public Transport and parking options.
The Merri-bek Community team is a large, supportive and dynamic team made up of staff that are truly passionate and motivated in supporting consumers and their families/carers. We provide a comprehensive range of specialist mental health services to people who reside in the local government areas of Moreland and Hume.
We are seeking an experienced Administration Officer who is passionate about providing a welcoming environment to consumers and carers of our service as well as making invaluable contributions to the functioning of the teams Health Information Processes.
The Administration Officer works with our databases, local health records and state-wide and local information management systems to enter data and register consumers as well as scan health records. The Administration Officers also spend time on front reception and the switchboard in our busy outpatient mental health clinic, welcoming consumers and carers into our service and directing their queries.
This position is part time ongoing (option for full time by negotiation).
This role is responsible for:
- Front reception and phone switchboard for the clinic
- Data entry inclusive of opening and closing of patient files
- Preparation of scanning for the medical file
- Management of local databases
- Other general administration and health information tasks as needed
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Demonstrated experience with telephone reception or switchboard
- Preferably have past administration experience in a hospital or health setting but this is not essential
- Placing strong value on being part of a team but are able to work autonomously as well
- Excellent Computer and organisational skills
- Excellent communication skills and inter-personal skills including the ability to relate appropriately and professionally with consumers and colleagues
