Job Description
Overview
The Urgent Care (UC) Advanced Practice Provider, (APP), Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner, is part of an interdisciplinary team and responsible for treating patients of all ages in an urgent care setting. The UC APP is responsible for examining and treating episodic illnesses, minor injuries, and work-related health problems, as well as performing specialized occupation health exams (including Department of Transportation (DOT) and other fitness for duty exams).
The UC APP provides initial and ongoing assessment and treatment of patient's medical, physical, and psychosocial status, including:
Job Requirements
Education:
• Graduate of an accredited physician assistant or family nurse practitioner program. (No pending graduates)
License:
• Licensed to practice by the NCBON (FNP) or NCMB (PA-C)
Certification:
• Certified by a recognized national APP board that allows treatment of all ages, i.e., Physician Assistant (PA-C) or Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP).
• BLS Certification required to apply, ACLS and PALS must be obtained after the start of employment
• DOT Medical Examiner Certification obtained prior to starting employment or within first year of employment.
Experience:
• 2 years of experience working as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner, preferably in an urgent care setting. New or recent APP graduates are NOT being considered for this position unless they have 2 years Emergency Room or Urgent Care RN experience or 2 years EMT/EMT-P experience.
• Training and experience performing procedures (e.g., suturing, splinting/casting, I & D, etc.)
