PRIDE Seeds is currently seeking a focused and self-motivated individual to join our dynamic team as a full-time permanent Agronomy Lead.
Position Summary
The PRIDE Seeds Agronomy Lead is responsible for delivering on agronomic initiatives that provide value added benefits to customers and dealers and drive on-farm success of PRIDE Seeds products. The role will focus on supporting the sales team in Canada. Coordinating development of product positioning information and statements used in the marketplace for all products, while supporting the provincial and regional plot seed program in Canada for PRIDE Seeds. To promote and accurately position and sell PRIDE Seeds products and provide agronomic support and training to staff, customers and retail partners.
Position reports to PRIDE Seeds Manager, Product Development & Agronomy.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Sales Team in initiatives that drive sales growth and retention.
- Take a lead on regular dealer, customer, intern and staff training on agronomy.
- Focus on supporting agronomic content alignment with marketing.
- Assist the team to evaluate products for commercialization or discontinuation and develop product information for corn, and soybean products in Canada for PRIDE Seeds. This includes visiting and observing material in all zones during key times during the season (emergence, flowering, black layer etc.) and participating in product tours.
- Support the team to develop and maintain relationships with centers of influence and extension leads.
- Coordinate with sales management, agronomic activities to be based in large measure on dealer business plans developed collaboratively between the dealer, PRIDE District Sales Manager and assigned Sales Agronomist.
- Represent the brand at trade shows and industry meetings.
- Coordinate agronomy and product knowledge projects across Canada.
- Coordinate Sales Agronomist activity in prescription farming initiatives working with assigned GDM staff in North America.
- Follow up and support customer service calls to enhance customer experience and retention.
- Assist provincial corn and soybean performance trial program in terms of relationships, plot seed logistics and data review and recommendations for the specific provinces where testing occurs. This includes the recommendation of hybrids to be tested in each provincial testing program.
- Provide technical support for sales team through the year including product and agronomy presentations or bulletins for use at meetings and dealer/grower calls where required.
- Contribute technical information, product information or articles for PRIDE Seeds’ product literature, newsletters and internet information. Technically review PRIDE Seeds’ product literature including the product guide prior to completion and printing.
- Provide market development support and prospecting when called upon with key, target growers.
- Maintain corporate common database from a PRIDE Seeds perspective. Information and data summaries to be sent on a regular or as needed basis electronically to targeted sales staff. Note that day-to-day entry of trial results for silage and grain will continue to be done from Pain Court office during the harvest season.
- Participate in PRIDE sales management team discussions.
- Participate in GDM or partner sponsored events or meetings as required.
- Work with District Sales Managers to recruit new dealers.
- Support key customers.
- Support sales team as floater throughout zones as needed.
- Duties may be amended by the Company as may be reasonably required.
Education / Experience
- University degree and a C.C.A. or equivalent designation.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in seed industry or related agri-business or research focusing on in-field agronomy or product support or evaluation.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
- Agricultural background with agronomy, research or related experience.
Physical Demands
- Ability to lift 30 lbs.
