General Summary:
The PA or APRN under the supervision of the Physician, who acts as the collaborative practitioner, is responsible for:
Performs physical examinations of patients; evaluation and treatment of acute and chronic urologic conditions within the hospital setting and practice Procedures to include, catheter replacement/removal, injections, ultrasounds, circumcisionsSurgery first assist Orders and interprets appropriate diagnostic tests, such as routine laboratory, X-ray, etc.Monitors the patient’s course of treatment and makes appropriate referral to either a physician or specialist, as neededCollaborates with physician and staff as necessary to provide consistent care to patients and support to staffDisplays a caring and professional attitude at all times as well as maintaining personal and professional growthAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, patients, and the public.Strong communication skillsPatient management and surgical first assist for pediatric general surgery patients.Collaborate with supervising physician, pediatric surgery team and staff to provide consistent patient care in the inpatient hospital and outpatient clinic settings.Perform and document patient histories and physical exams.Order and interpret appropriate diagnostic tests, such as routine laboratory, X-ray, Ultrasound etc.Monitors the patient’s course of treatment and implement care plans.Participate in daily inpatient rounds.Evaluate consultations in the emergency department and outpatient office.With appropriate training and supervision, perform bedside procedures such as newborn circumcision, extra digit excision, drainage of abscess, local wound care, ostomy and gastrostomy tube care. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, patients, and the public; Strong communication skillsAbility to work flexible schedule including call rotation, nights, weekends for the general surgery teamAbility to excel in clinic with highly acute patientsConfident practice independently Required Education/Experience:
Master’s degree in Nursing (APRN) or Physician Assistant (PA-C) Studies2-5 years of experience as a PA-C or APRN; Urology (preferred) and Pediatric Surgery Licensure, Certification, and Registration:
Current, valid Florida PA or APRN licenseCertification by NCCPA, ANCC or other nationally recognized certification organizationBLS & ACLSCurrent, valid DEA license
