We are seeking an exceptional AI Engineering Manager to lead our AI/ML engineering team in Chennai. This role requires a unique blend of deep technical expertise in machine learning, generative AI, and agentic systems, combined with strong leadership capabilities.

Based in Chennai, you will have the opportunity to build AI solutions that create meaningful impact for millions across India and beyond. You will be responsible for architecting and scaling AI solutions while building and mentoring a high-performing engineering team, contributing to technologies that can transform healthcare access, financial inclusion, education, and everyday life for diverse communities.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Leadership:

• Design and implement scalable ML/AI systems and agentic AI workflows that drive business impact.
• Architect solutions for model hosting infrastructure, including in-house deployment strategies and cost optimization.
• Lead model development, fine-tuning, and optimization initiatives across various AI/ML projects.
• Establish best practices for model evaluation, monitoring, and performance optimization.
• Drive technical decisions around data pipelines, data warehousing, and ML infrastructure.

Team Management:

• Build, lead, and mentor a team of AI/ML engineers and data scientists.
• Foster a culture of innovation, technical excellence, and continuous learning.
• Conduct performance reviews, provide career guidance, and develop team capabilities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product, data science, and platform engineering.
• Strategic Planning.
• Define the technical roadmap for AI/ML initiatives aligned with business objectives.
• Evaluate and integrate emerging AI technologies and frameworks.
• Manage resource allocation, token budgets, and infrastructure costs for AI operations.
• Partner with stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.

Required Qualifications:-

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field from a top-tier engineering institute.
• Strong computer science fundamentals with deep understanding of algorithms, data structures, and system design.

Technical Expertise:

• Machine Learning: Deep expertise in ML algorithms, model training, fine-tuning, and optimization techniques
• Generative AI: Hands-on experience with LLMs, prompt engineering, RAG systems, and GenAI applications
• Agentic AI: Proven experience building and deploying agentic AI workflows and autonomous systems
• Voice AI: Experience with voice agents and technologies including Speech-to-Text (STT), Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR), and Text-to-Speech (TTS) systems
• Computer Vision: Proficiency in image processing, object detection, and visual AI applications
• Model Operations: Strong knowledge of model hosting (cloud and in-house), model deployment strategies, inference optimization, and token cost management
• Data Engineering: Proficiency in data science workflows, data warehousing technologies, and data pipeline design
• Programming: Expert-level proficiency in Python; strong proficiency in at least one of Node.js or Java
• MLOps: Experience with ML deployment, monitoring, CI/CD for ML systems, and production ML infrastructure

Experience:

• 8+ years of experience in AI/ML engineering with at least 2-3 years in a technical leadership role
• Track record of successfully delivering production-grade AI/ML systems at scale
• Experience with modern ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, Hugging Face, LangChain, etc.)
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure) and containerization technologies

Leadership Skills:

• Proven ability to lead and grow technical teams
• Strong communication skills with ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
• Experience in agile development methodologies and team processes
• Strategic thinking with ability to balance technical debt and feature delivery
• Preferred Experience:
• Publications or contributions to open-source AI/ML projects.
• Experience with vector databases and embedding systems.
• Knowledge of distributed systems and high-performance computing.
• Familiarity with AI safety, ethics, and responsible AI practices.
• Experience with multi-modal AI systems.
