What Your Role Entails
The Head of AI/ML Products Technologies is a strategic technology leadership role accountable for pioneering the adoption and industrialization of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning across the HVAC & Refrigeration business. Reporting directly to the Group CTO, this leader will architect the next generation of intelligent systems, driving R&D acceleration and enhancing core product performance through advanced algorithms.
The mandate is to build a robust, scalable AI ML & Io T platform that maximizes energy efficiency, enables predictive maintenance, and creates a competitive advantage in the smart connected product market.
What You’ll Do:
- Define the long-term vision and technical roadmap for AI/ML adoption, ensuring alignment with the Organisation & R&D strategic goals.
- Lead the deployment of Io T and AIML integrated technology solutions that enhance product value through predictive analytic insights.
- Stimulate technology evaluation and Proof of Concept (POC) initiatives that accelerate R&D cycles and bring competitive advantage.
- Design and specify the Embedded Products Software Architecture, including the selection of Wireless Technologies and Connectivity Protocols to support the AI/ML strategy.
- Oversee the implementation of MLOps for continuous delivery and automation pipelines, ensuring AI models are reliably deployed and managed.
- Instil a NPD quality focus by steering Design FMEA and Software FMEA at the initial stage for all critical AI/ML features as part of the new product development process.
- Guide AI quality governance improvements through methodical identification of process gaps and lead efforts to bridge these gaps for internal and external customers.
- Recruit, mentor, and lead high-performing teams of Data Scientists and ML Engineers, effectively building a high-caliber AI/ML team from scratch.
- Lead technical initiatives and capability-building sessions that allow opportunities to upskill the technical team and ensure they perform at their full potential.
- Ensure that processes are in place to achieve 100% functional specification traceability for new AI-enabled features.
- Lead interactions with chip manufacturers and digital infrastructure vendors (ie. cloud storage)
Your success is grounded in
- Education: B. E/B. Tech/M. E/M. Tech - Electronics/ Electrical/Instrumentation
- 20+ years of professional experience demonstrating technical leadership in building technology platforms and executing embedded product design.
- Understanding & knowledge of various commercial and residential HVAC & Refrigeration systems.
- Domain Alignment: Proven experience in embedded product development, specifically for Smart meters or Smart thermostat products for the residential HVAC system.
- Possesses complete knowledge of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning methods required to realize high-value edge computing solutions.
- Expertise in data science methodologies, data analytics for deriving actionable insights, and developing complex algorithms for optimization and prediction.
- Strong understanding of MLOps for continuous delivery and the automation pipeline.
- Deep technical knowledge of Embedded Software architecture, design, and operating systems like RTOS (Thread X, Free RTOS).
- Connectivity expertise in Wireless Technologies (Wi-Fi, BLE, CHIP) and Connectivity Protocols (REST, MQTT).
- Proficiency in leveraging Edge and Cloud processing architectures to balance latency, cost, and computational demands of AI/ML models.
- Experience with AI/ML-enabled processor chips (e.g., dedicated NPUs or accelerators) to optimize model performance, power consumption, and security on embedded devices.
- Strong technical foundation in developing and integrating seamless consumer interfaces (UI/UX) for smart products and associated mobile/web applications.
- Comprehensive knowledge of security protocols and best practices (e.g., encryption, secure boot, key management) for embedded, cloud, and Io T communication.
- History of technical leadership, including holding patents or other publications related to the domain (e.g., Power savings for wireless sensors).
- Conversant with quality processes such as Design FMEA and Software FMEA
