Roles and Responsibilities
Job Summary Key Responsibilities Specification, design and analysis of advanced traction motors for specific vehicle performance targets. Perform motor electromagnetic and thermal design optimization. Perform characterization, parameter estimation, tuning and calibration of motor system on dyno. Develop testing plans to validate motor electromagnetic and thermal designs including performance and durability. Work with mechanical engineers to create motor design drawings and release them to manufacturing. Support structural and mechanical analysis of motor systems including NVH and durability. Support powertrain system integration and vehicle control integration. Support motor manufacturing development including material sourcing, supplier engagement and process development. Design and document towards technical robustness such as Worst Case Analysis, Circuit Simulations, DFMEA, Functional Safety Analysis Responsible to design, optimize, test & validate electric motor at component level & system level for high voltage EV application Job Description Key Skills Required Software Tools Hands on experience on Motor sizing, Permanent magnet selection and Electromagnetic design using state of art of Emag tools like Maxwell 2D/3D, Motor CAD & Altair Flux. Hands-on experience on different motor designs such as IM, IPM, SynRM, Switched Reluctance motor etc. Strong understanding of power electronics and thermal aspects of the motor. Hands on Experience in thermal 1D/3D thermal analysis & optimization using commercial tools. Strong understanding on e-NVH concepts & Motor Control algorithms Expertise in working with Electromagnetic tools such as Maxwell 2D/3D, MotorCAD and Flux 2D/3D Hands on experience on motor manufacturing process and proto development Hands on experience on traction motor component level & system level testing. Worked in complete product development cycles of design, proto/mass manufacturing, testing & validation (component/vehicle level) of high voltage electric motor for EV application Understand in detail motor technologies and effect in control algorithms FOC, VFD, DTC, etc.) In-depth knowledge of electric motor & controller optimization strategy & first time right motor proto development Deep understanding in motor control units including control strategy/systems & battery systems.
