My website is currently hitting API request limits and I strongly believe it's caused by bot traffic and abusive requests.
Right now, I do not have proper API-level protection or traffic intelligence in place.
I need an experienced backend / security engineer to identify the abuse and put real protections in place immediately.
What I need you to do:
- Analyze my current traffic and API usage to confirm where the abuse is coming from.
- Implement proper protections, including:
- Basic rate limiting on critical API endpoints
- Request throttling (per IP / per token / per client where appropriate)
- Blocking known high-risk and automated traffic patterns
- Expanded bot-pattern blocking (not only simple user-agent checks)
- Endpoint-specific protection rules (different limits for different endpoints)
This is an urgent task.
I am looking for someone who can start immediately and finish fast.
Contract duration of 1 to 3 months. with 30 hours per week.
