Job Description – Apigee Solution & Platform Architect
Position Overview
We are seeking a Seasoned Apigee Solution & Platform Architect with 13+ years of overall IT experience and 5+ years of hands-on expertise in Apigee (Hybrid/Edge/X), Microservices, and Kubernetes/Anthos.
The role requires end-to-end ownership of API and platform architecture, including solution design, infrastructure engineering, production stability, and innovation. The ideal candidate will bring deep Banking & Payments domain expertise and leverage Generative AI to drive automation, observability, and predictive operations in a banking-grade environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Apigee & Microservices Solution Architecture
- Lead API proxy and microservice design, development, and governance using Apigee Hybrid/Edge/X.
- Review and approve solution designs, enforcing architectural best practices and security standards.
- Conduct architecture gap assessments and recommend scalable, compliant solutions.
- Drive quarterly innovation initiatives, introducing emerging technologies and Gen AI-based accelerators.
2. Platform & Infrastructure Engineering
- Architect, deploy, and manage Apigee Hybrid on Anthos/GKE/Node Port clusters.
- Design and implement CI/CD pipelines for deployments, patching, and platform upgrades.
- Ensure platform resilience, high availability, disaster recovery (DR), and failover readiness.
- Administer and optimize Kubernetes components (pods, nodes, ingress/egress, storage policies).
- Provide hands-on expertise in Linux system administration and performance tuning.
3. Networking & Infrastructure Architecture
- Design and maintain GSLB, Load Balancers, and Citrix Net Scaler/F5 for high availability.
- Validate DNS configurations, TLS certificates, firewall rules, and connectivity policies.
- Optimize network throughput, latency management, and failover mechanisms.
4. Production Support & RCA Ownership
- Own end-to-end production support for Apigee runtime, APIs, and platform infrastructure.
- Establish a strong RCA and problem management culture:
- Raise problem tickets
- Document root causes and preventive actions
- Implement long-term corrective fixes
- Proactively identify potential issues using monitoring, automation, and AI/ML-driven analytics.
- Improve patch responsiveness through automation-driven rollout processes.
5. Banking & Payments Domain Expertise
- Strong understanding of banking and payments systems, including:
- Trade Finance integration flows
- Inbound/Outbound Merchant Payments (Cards, UPI, Wallets, etc.)
- RIB (Retail Internet Banking) and CIB (Corporate Internet Banking)
- NPCI payment models and settlement processes
- Translate business payment flows into scalable API and microservice architectures.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards such as RBI, NPCI, and ISO 20022.
6. Generative AI & Emerging Technologies
- Apply Generative AI/ML in:
- Automated log analysis and knowledge extraction
- Predictive anomaly detection and issue prevention
- AI-assisted RCA, compliance, and design documentation
- Conversational interfaces/chatbots for Dev Ops and support teams
- Evaluate and propose Gen AI-driven solutions to enhance delivery, observability, and operations.
Required Skills & Experience
- 10+ years of IT experience, with 5+ years in Apigee (Hybrid/Edge/X).
- Strong expertise in API design, shared flows, governance, debugging, and performance optimization.
- Deep knowledge of Banking & Payments domain (Trade, Merchant Payments, RIB, CIB, NPCI).
- Hands-on experience with:
- Kubernetes (GKE, Anthos)
- Linux (RHEL/Ubuntu)
- Networking: GSLB, Load Balancers, Citrix Net Scaler/F5, DNS, TLS, Firewalls
- Proven experience in infrastructure automation using CI/CD, Git, Jenkins, Helm, Terraform, or equivalent tools.
- Exposure to Generative AI/ML tools for automation, monitoring, or documentation.
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, and technical leadership skills.
- Experience in BFSI production environments is highly desirable.
