Role - Application Support Engineer


Key Roles & Responsibilities :

  • Provide day-to-day technical/Functional support.
  • Act as the first point of contact for all application-related incidents and service requests.
  • Perform proactive application monitoring and troubleshooting to prevent outages.
  • Execute and manage incident response and root cause analysis.
  • Manage change requests and perform production deployments in application and database (patches, configuration updates, go-lives).
  • Review and test patches in Test environments and ensure to have sign off before any production deployment.
  • Ensure to follow change management process as defined.
  • Tune performance at application and database levels for optimal availability and improve user experience.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to reduce operational overhead and increase system uptime.
  • Maintain documentation related to issue resolution, standard operating procedures, and known errors.
  • Collaborate with multiple teams' infrastructure, database, and development teams to ensure end-to-end system stability.
  • Follow defined ITIL-based processes (Incident, Problem, Change Management).
  • Ensure to close application/database vulnerabilities and Audit points as per Compliance.
  • Ensure to perform DR Drill as per governance/compliance requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational standards and SLAs.


Required Skills :

  • 5-6 years of relevant application support experience in a production environment.
  • Strong experience with Linux & Windows – shell scripting, system logs, cron jobs, Batch file, windows scheduler, file system management.
  • Proficiency with Oracle Database – ability to write complex SQL queries, perform analysis, and understand execution plans.
  • Experience in application monitoring tools and log analysis (e.g., AppDynamics, Grafana , etc.).
  • Hands-on experience with incident and change management tools such as ServiceNow or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with performance tuning techniques – both application-level and database-level.
  • Experience in application patch deployment including pre-testing, validation, and deployment in production.
  • Good understanding of database \"Procedure, Functions, Package, Trigger; etc.\".
  • Ability to understand application architecture , dependencies, and interfaces quickly.
  • Strong Understanding of ITIL processes and operational best practices.
  • Experience with Change Management & Problem Management , including RCA documentation and tracking.
