APS5 Planning Support Officer 

  • Tasmania-based
  • 6-month contract, with an opportunity to extend for 2 x 3 months
  • Must be an Australian Citizen

Our government client is seeking an individual with procurement experience and strong communication skills to join the team on a short-term contract. The role supports construction planning and station operations by coordinating procurement activities, managing associated contracts, and maintaining accurate documentation and logistics information.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Procure and expedite materials, equipment, and services in line with Commonwealth procurement rules.
  • Manage contracts and supplier documentation related to procurement activities.
  • Track received materials and ensure accurate entry into logistics and consignment systems.
  • Consolidate materials and equipment into project/station groupings for deployment.
  • Liaise with Project Leads, SMEs, and station trades to resolve planning, materials, and resourcing issues.
  • Maintain registers, status reports, and documentation accurately and on schedule.
  • Provide effective communication across project, supplier, and station stakeholders.
  • Use asset management/maintenance systems and Microsoft Office to produce plans, reports, and documentation.

Key Capabilities 

  • Knowledge of and experience in procurement practices and systems.
  • Experience in the procurement of equipment, materials and services, and associated contract management.
  • Exposure to work and resource planning in the building trades (desirable).
  • An appreciation of the Antarctic environment and conditions (or similar) is desirable.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills including:
  • Written and verbal communication and listening skills.
  • The ability to build strong collaborative working relationships.
  • Demonstrated administrative and organisation skills including:
  • Attention to detail.
  • Initiative and an ability to self-manage during peak workload periods.
  • The ability to manage registers, status report updates and documentation.
  • Demonstrated capability in the use of computer-based asset management/maintenance systems and the Microsoft Office suite to produce a variety of plans, reports, and documents.
