Ardmore Summer Externship

Find your calling at Mercy! As a student in an approved registered nurse or practical nurse school of nursing, the Nurse Extern student participates in clinical work under the direction of an RN. The Nurse Extern assists in the individualized care of the patient to achieve the patient's highest level of wellness working cooperatively with others as part of the healthcare team and performs designated clinical procedures and nonclinical support tasks within the nurse extern scope. Position Details:

Six Week Winter Extern Program

$18.00/hr

Overview:

During your nine-week externship, you will have the opportunity to experience multiple nursing units while working with a preceptor. You may also choose to shadow in additional departments. Discover where your passion for nursing is leading you at Mercy!

Qualifications:

This program is open to any unlicensed LPN or RN student who will have completed at least two semesters of nursing school and graduating Fall 2026 through Spring 2027.

Certifications: BLS Certification required before assigned to care for patients independently

In addition to the online application the following documents must be brought to interview, if selected:

- Transcript

- Skills Checklist signed by Clinical Instructor

Program will begin May 26th, 2026 and end on July 28th, 2026 (with opportunity to stay in a Nurse Tech role after the completion of the extern program)
