Bookkeeper | Assistant Accounts

$85,000 - $95,000 + Super

Hybrid after 6 months | 3 days in office & 2 from home

A well-established organised in Perth’s CBD are looking to recruit a detail-oriented and proactive Bookkeeper/Assistant Accountant to support their Financial Controller in managing accurate, compliant, and timely financial records.

You will be involved across core accounting functions including month-end, reconciliations, payroll, accounts receivable and payable, and audit support, within a collaborative and values-driven organisation.

Key Responsibilities

General Ledger & Month-End Support

  • Assist with preparation and analysis of month-end journals, including accruals, prepayments, and reclassifications
  • Support month-end close and reporting activities
  • Complete weekly and monthly bank reconciliations
  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations for assigned accounts
  • Investigate and resolve reconciling items in a timely manner

Payroll (Fortnightly)

  • End-to-end payroll processing
  • Validate timesheets, overtime, allowances, and leave entries
  • Prepare payroll reconciliations and maintain employee records
  • Ensure compliance with awards, superannuation, and taxation requirements
  • Provide payroll analysis and reporting
  • Support employee payroll queries
  • Assist with year-end payroll processes including STP finalisation and PAYG summaries

Accounts Receivable & Accounts Payable

  • Assist with preparation and issuing of sales invoices
  • Allocate customer payments and maintain debtor records
  • Monitor overdue accounts and support credit control activities
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders to resolve billing queries
  • Review weekly creditor payment files for accuracy
  • Process supplier invoices accurately and on time
  • Perform three-way matching (PO, receipt, invoice) where applicable
  • Prepare weekly creditor payment runs
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and delegated authorities

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • 3–5 years’ commercial experience in a transactional accounting role
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial controls
  • Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, pivot tables, data validation, conditional formatting)
  • High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Working rights in Australia and based in Perth
