Bookkeeper | Assistant Accounts
$85,000 - $95,000 + Super
Hybrid after 6 months | 3 days in office & 2 from home
A well-established organised in Perth’s CBD are looking to recruit a detail-oriented and proactive Bookkeeper/Assistant Accountant to support their Financial Controller in managing accurate, compliant, and timely financial records.
You will be involved across core accounting functions including month-end, reconciliations, payroll, accounts receivable and payable, and audit support, within a collaborative and values-driven organisation.
Key Responsibilities
General Ledger & Month-End Support
- Assist with preparation and analysis of month-end journals, including accruals, prepayments, and reclassifications
- Support month-end close and reporting activities
- Complete weekly and monthly bank reconciliations
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations for assigned accounts
- Investigate and resolve reconciling items in a timely manner
Payroll (Fortnightly)
- End-to-end payroll processing
- Validate timesheets, overtime, allowances, and leave entries
- Prepare payroll reconciliations and maintain employee records
- Ensure compliance with awards, superannuation, and taxation requirements
- Provide payroll analysis and reporting
- Support employee payroll queries
- Assist with year-end payroll processes including STP finalisation and PAYG summaries
Accounts Receivable & Accounts Payable
- Assist with preparation and issuing of sales invoices
- Allocate customer payments and maintain debtor records
- Monitor overdue accounts and support credit control activities
- Liaise with internal stakeholders to resolve billing queries
- Review weekly creditor payment files for accuracy
- Process supplier invoices accurately and on time
- Perform three-way matching (PO, receipt, invoice) where applicable
- Prepare weekly creditor payment runs
- Ensure compliance with company policies and delegated authorities
Skills & Experience
Essential
- 3–5 years’ commercial experience in a transactional accounting role
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial controls
- Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, pivot tables, data validation, conditional formatting)
- High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Working rights in Australia and based in Perth
