Current Title: Assistant Business Development Manager (ABDM)

Reports To: Business Development Manager (BDM) / Zonal Manager

Department Summary:

The Sales & Business Development department is responsible for market expansion, product promotion, channel development, and revenue growth for poultry nutrition feed supplements, feed additives and bio security solutions across target geographies. The team works to identify potential customers, increase product visibility, and support the overall growth of the business.

Purpose of the Position:

 To support the Business Development Manager in achieving sales targets and identifying growth opportunities. The ABDM helps manage client relationships, field activities, and team coordination to ensure smooth business development operations and regional expansion.

Job Description (Roles and Responsibilities):

Roles:

    Assist the Business Development Manager (BDM) in achieving sales and business expansion targets for poultry feed supplements and bio security products.

    Identify new business opportunities, customer segments, and potential markets.

    Support in maintaining and strengthening relationships with key customers, dealers, and distributors.

    Generate new business leads and enhance customer base (farms, hatcheries, feed mills, integrators).

    Promote products through field demonstrations, farmer meetings, and technical sessions.

    Coordinate with internal teams for order fulfillment, logistics & product availability.

    Monitor competitor activities, pricing trends, and market opportunities.

    Ensure proper coordination with BDEs/field staff for collections and order closures.

    Build customer relationships to strengthen brand trust and retention.

    Maintain reporting discipline – MIS, DSR, market intelligence & weekly reviews.

 Responsibilities:

    Conduct regular field visits to poultry farms, dealers & integrators for product promotion.

    Achieve assigned sales targets and assist the BDM in executing business plans.

    Collect inquiries, generate quotations, follow-up, and convert leads into sales.

    Assist in channel appointments, onboarding, training & dealer performance monitoring.

    Execute product promotion activities – demos, exhibitions, workshops & awareness camps.

    Ensure timely order booking, dispatch coordination & payment collection follow-ups.

    Provide feedback from market regarding product acceptance, customer needs & competition.

    Address customer queries and coordinate with technical/veterinary support teams.

    Maintain territory sales plan, beat route mapping & travel calendar.

    Prepare and update daily visit reports, customer interactions, and sales funnel dashboards.

    Ensure compliance with company policies, pricing guidelines & documentation processes.

Essential Qualification and Skills Required:

Background:

  • B.Sc. / M.Sc. in Life Sciences, Agriculture.
  • MBA / PGDM in Marketing, Agri-Business or related field

Experience (in Years):

  • 3-4 years of experience in sales, business development, or marketing
  • Experience in animal health, poultry feed, or Agri-inputs sector is preferred.

Skills & Abilities:

v Understand poultry feed supplements, additives & bio security products to confidently explain benefits, usage, and dosage to customers.

v Communicate product value professionally, negotiate pricing or credit terms when needed, and close deals confidently.

v Plan field visits, prioritize market areas, and execute strategies to support target achievement in coordination with the BDM.

v Follow up on leads, manage queries, handle objections, and convert discussions into confirmed sales orders.

v Willingness to travel for client meetings, field visits, and exhibitions

v Build trust and maintain long-term relationships with farmers, integrators, hatcheries, veterinarians & consultants for repeat business.

v Ability to work under the guidance of senior managers and grow into leadership roles

v Assist BDEs/field staff with guidance, share targets, track progress, and support the BDM with territory operations.

v Monitor competitor products, pricing, marketing activities & customer trends to provide feedback for strategy improvement.

v Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)

v Result-oriented with a proactive approach

 




Requirements
