Job Description
The CAD Designer / Drafting Technician is responsible for preparing high‑quality (Fiber) design, permit, construction, and design drawings for Outside Plant (OSP) infrastructure in accordance with WSP policies, procedures, and industry standards. Working under the guidance of the Wireline department and technical leads, the successful candidate ensures all deliverables meet applicable specifications, standards, and client requirements.
This role requires strong collaboration and clear communication with Canadian offices, Telecom technical leads, and cross‑functional project teams to ensure the timely and accurate execution of project workflows.

+ Prepare permit, construction, and design drawings utilizing AutoCAD for OSP infrastructure projects.
+ Apply knowledge of accepted telecommunications construction practices to define design requirements, notes, and scope elements.
+ Interpret field notes, design sketches, and photographic documentation to create accurate technical drawings.
+ Collaborate closely with technical leads, designers, and engineers to develop practical and innovative design solutions.
+ Ensure adherence to quality control standards and all assessment procedures.
+ Perform additional duties as assigned by the manager in support of project and departmental needs.
**Education & Technical Background**
+ Completion of a relevant post‑secondary program such as Civil Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Architectural Technology, or a related discipline.
**Experience**
+ 1–3+ years of relevant experience within the telecommunications or related technical field (Junior level).
**Skills & Competencies**
+ Strong verbal and written English communication skills, with proven interpersonal, problem‑solving, and multitasking abilities.
+ Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office applications.
+ Familiarity with Spida‑Calc software is considered an asset.
+ Ability to quickly learn new concepts, technologies, and design standards.
+ Strong organizational and time‑management skills, with the ability to adapt to shifting priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
+ Demonstrated capacity to work both independently and collaboratively within project teams. Fluency in written and spoken English is required.
**BGV:**
+ Employment with WSP India is subject to the successful completion of a background verification (“BGV”) check conducted by a third-party agency appointed by WSP India.
