Job Summary
The Assistant General Manager – Automobile supports the General Manager in overseeing daily operations, improving business performance, and ensuring smooth coordination across sales, service, spare parts, and administration departments. The role focuses on operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, team management, and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Operations Management
- Assist the General Manager in planning and executing day-to-day automobile operations
- Oversee service, workshop, spare parts, sales, and logistics functions
- Ensure compliance with company SOPs, OEM guidelines, and statutory norms
- Monitor operational KPIs such as productivity, turnaround time (TAT), and quality
- Business & Financial Control
- Support budgeting, cost control, and profitability improvement initiatives
- Monitor revenue, expenses, and departmental performance
- Reduce operational losses, warranty rejections, and inefficiencies
- Team & Leadership
- Supervise departmental heads, managers, and supervisors
- Support recruitment, training, performance reviews, and staff discipline
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Customer Experience
- Ensure high customer satisfaction in sales and after-sales services
- Handle escalated customer complaints and critical issues
- Implement CRM processes and service quality improvements
- Process & Compliance
- Ensure implementation of SOPs, 5S, Kaizen, and quality standards
- Coordinate internal and external audits
- Ensure workplace safety and regulatory compliance
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of automobile dealership / workshop operations
- Leadership, people management, and decision-making skills
- Business planning and financial understanding
- Excellent communication and coordination abilities
- Problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills
- Knowledge of ERP / DMS / SAP systems
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Automobile / Mechanical Engineering or Management
- MBA / PGDM in Operations or Marketing is an added advantage
Experience
- 8–15 years experience in the automobile industry
- Prior experience as Operations Manager / Service Manager / Senior Manager preferred
Work Environment
- Automobile dealership / service workshop / manufacturing unit
- Full-time role; may require extended hours during peak operations
