The Future Generation Joint Venture brings together the combined engineering experience and expertise of WeBuild, Clough and Lane and has been selected to design construct Snowy 2.0. This project is based within the Snowy Mountains in NSW and will deliver one of the largest pumped hydro schemes in the world.
Snowy 2.0 is the next chapter in the Snowy Scheme's history. It is the largest committed renewable energy project in Australia and will provide on-demand energy and large-scale storage for many generations to come. This Iconic Project has and will continue to create its own legacy in Australian history.
Purpose of the Role:
The laboratory assistant works with senior staff and leadership to run tests, analyse results, and report on data findings.
Qualifications:
Recognised tertiary qualifications within Engineering, Geology, or a relevant Geoscience field.White Card Experience:
Minimum 8 years of construction Geological / Engineering experience including soil and groundwater sampling and contractor oversight during drilling activities.Exposure working on a major civil infrastructure project of comparable size and complexity to the Snowy 2.0 project.Extensive experience in the development and implementation of Geological management systems and plans.Experience working within a Technical or Design department, assisting in Design, Planning and support the construction / production teams against required criteriaExperience in Geotechnical approvals process, ideally gained within civil construction and preferably in NSW Required Competencies:
Familiar with lab methodologies and understand the importance of clean and orderly workspace by diligently following all lab procedures for health and safetyAble to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficientlyAble to work independently or as an active member of a teamGood interpersonal skills and communicationStrong computer skills; Microsoft Office Suite or similar softwareAbility to work collaborativelyAbility to work to deadlines and targets and can prioritise tasks under pressureStrong organizational skills and strong attention to detailExcellent safety awareness with good housekeeping habits.Good verbal and written communication skills.Ability to carry out work instructions and directives to provide satisfactory outcomes.Ability to work within a team environment to achieve desired results Core Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
The lab assistant will also be responsible for compiling data, transferring notes and recordings, and labelling, organizing, and maintaining samplesTake notes, record data, and results, and organize documentationTransfer data and results from notes and records to computer formatsOrganize and maintain lab storage, samples, and specimensFollow all health and safety regulations when handling laboratory specimensIdentify and label samplesPrepare equipment and workspacePerform clerical and administrative duties as neededCompile research and information needed for studyConduct laboratory tests, analyze, and categorize resultsRecord and document analysis results; report results and variations to supervisorComply with all lab procedures, processes, and methodologiesSanitize and sterilize equipment and workspaceResearch industry trends and advancementAssists all senior laboratory staff and leadership with additional duties as needed The above listed authorities & responsibilities are only a guide and may change as directed by your Manager/Supervisor or as per the requirements of FGJV Management.
