Responsibilities
Plant Operations and Technical Management
Coordinate and monitor plant operations to ensure safe, smooth, and efficient performance within design and IOW limits.Review lab analysis results and initiate corrective and preventive actions for any non conformities in consultation with senior team members.Assist in performance analysis, technical studies, and implementation of process improvements for enhanced efficiency and reliability.Ensure strict adherence to plant SOPs, monitoring schedules, and checklists while supporting the execution of routine and critical jobs.Lead and coordinate the shift team for executing high-risk operations requiring supervision and maintain accurate logs of shift activities, production, energy consumption, and abnormalities.Conduct regular plant rounds to identify and rectify non-conformities, hazards, and leakages in coordination with cross-functional teams.Work closely with maintenance teams to ensure safe job handovers and execution in compliance with SWP and safety procedures.Troubleshoot operational issues, handle start-ups, shutdowns, and plant emergencies independently, and take timely decisions to ensure people and plant safety—including initiating emergency shutdowns if needed.Collaborate with internal teams for daily maintenance planning, process order creation, SAP notifications, and shift reporting.HESQ and Process Safety
Promote and practice strict compliance with all HESQ protocols including SWP, LOTO, SOPs, IMS, and PSM guidelines.Ensure readiness and proper use of safety equipment (PPE, air masks, BA sets, AEDs), and maintain high housekeeping standards across plant areas.Participate in and improve risk assessments (LMRA/SJA/RA), conduct safety talks, and report
hazards, near misses, and BBS observations in the Synergi portal.Uphold the integrity of Yara’s safety systems by proactively identifying hazards and contributing to a culture of zero harm.Ensure adherence to PSM elements, including hazard understanding, risk management, and continuous learning from safety events and operational deviations.Preferred Skills
Strong operational knowledge of Urea process units and critical equipment including strippers, columns, heat exchangers, cooling systems, compressors, and turbinesFamiliarity with hazardous chemical handling (carbamate, ammonia, hydrocarbons) and related safety protocolsExperience with DCS, ESD systems, RMPCT/APC, control loops, and plant simulators (OTS) Awareness of SNAM and relevant ASME codes and standardsProficient in SAP for process orders, notifications, and maintenance coordinationWorking knowledge of Power BI, Shift Connector, Parsable, and SynergiProficient in Microsoft Office and comfortable working with data and AI-enabled tools for reporting and analysisStrong troubleshooting and analytical capabilitiesAbility to work effectively under pressure, manage ambiguity, and multitask in dynamic plant environmentsWillingness to work in rotating shifts, lead teams, and ensure clear communication during shift handoversEffective verbal and written communication skills in English and HindiKnowledge of applicable legal and regulatory requirements including Factory Act, IBR, and environmental compliance standardsEducation & Experience
For External Candidates: Bachelor’s degree (B.Tech/B.E.) in Chemical Engineering from a recognized university.
Consistent academic performance with a minimum of 60% marks in 10th, 12th, and B.Tech.
Minimum of 2 years of relevant industry experience.
Experience in a Urea manufacturing plant with hands-on exposure to DCS systems in a continuous process industry will be an added advantage. For Internal Candidates: A.M.I.E. (Chemical) with 4–6 years of relevant post-qualification experience, or
Diploma in Chemical Engineering / B.Sc. (PCM) with 12–15 years of relevant post qualification experience
