Job Description
The Civil Quality Assistant Manager will manage the site quality function, enforce international standards, and ensure defect-free execution of foundations, structures, buildings, and associated infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
Quality Assurance & Control:
- Develop, implement, and monitor project-specific Civil QA/QC plans, Method Statements, and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
- Oversee quality inspections of all civil works including module mounting structure foundations, inverter/transformer foundations, control rooms, boundary walls, internal roads, stormwater drainage, and cable trenches .
- Ensure proper quality checks on concrete works, reinforcement, compaction, curing, and geotechnical aspects .
- Manage non-conformance identification, reporting, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive actions.
- Maintain comprehensive quality records for audits and client/consultant review.
Site Execution & Compliance:
- Monitor contractors and subcontractors for compliance with approved drawings, BOQ, codes, and specifications.
- Conduct stage-wise inspections – excavation, formwork, steel fixing, concreting, curing, backfilling, and finishing.
- Ensure adherence to IS, ASTM, BIS, and other international civil construction standards .
- Coordinate with engineering and procurement teams to address material quality issues.
- Support in pre-commissioning readiness and handover of defect-free civil infrastructure.
Managership & Stakeholder Management:
- Guide site engineers, and supervisors on civil quality best practices.
- Act as the primary point of contact for client/consultant regarding civil quality issues.
- Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly civil quality reports with clear KPIs and actionable insights.
- Build a culture of quality-first and zero-defect execution across site teams.
Key Skills & Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of civil works for solar PV plants , especially foundations, infrastructure, and structural integrity.
- Expertise in QA/QC processes, civil codes, and testing procedures .
- Hands-on experience with laboratory and field testing of materials (concrete, soil, aggregates, steel).
- Ability to interpret and implement civil drawings, standards, and specifications.
- Effective managership, coordination, and client-facing communication skills .
- Proficient in MS Office, QA/QC reporting tools, and documentation systems .
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
- 7+ years of civil QA/QC experience , with at least 5+ years in utility-scale solar PV/EPC projects .
- Proven track record in managing civil quality at site for projects of 50 MW and above .
- Experience in working with EPC contractors, consultants, and IPPs.
