Job Description

The Department of Classics and Religious Studies Boston invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor position to join our faculty beginning September 1, 2026. 

Applicants should have a PhD in Classics, and a demonstrable interest in spoken ancient Greek or Latin and Second Language Acquisition (SLA) and the application of the latter to ancient language pedagogy. The candidate will have an interest in outreach to schools, an ability to oversee teaching practica, and consonant with these interests, be ready to teach graduate-level and undergraduate courses in the Classics and Religious Studies Department. The successful candidate will also contribute to interdisciplinary teaching in the College of Liberal Arts in Second Language Acquisition by collaborating with departments that specialize in modern languages such as Latin American and Iberian Studies, -Modern Languages, Literatures and Cultures, and Applied Linguistics.
