Position Summary

The MIT School of Computing is seeking a dynamic and student-centric Assistant Professor of Mathematics. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between theoretical mathematical concepts and their practical applications in Computer Science and Engineering. This role focuses heavily on delivering high-quality education to B.Tech students and fostering a research-oriented mindset.

Key Responsibilities

- Teaching & Pedagogy: Deliver engaging lectures in Engineering Mathematics (Calculus, Linear Algebra, Discrete Mathematics, Probability, and Statistics) specifically tailored for B.Tech students.
- Curriculum Development: Design and update course materials to align with AICTE norms and industry requirements, incorporating modern tools like MATLAB or Python.
- Student Mentorship: Guide students in their academic progress, provide remedial support where needed, and mentor them for competitive exams or project-based applications of math.
- Examination & Assessment: Handle all aspects of student evaluation, including question paper setting, evaluation of answer scripts, and internal assessments.
- Research & Innovation: Conduct original research and aim for publications in SCI/Scopus-indexed journals. Contribute to the department's intellectual growth through workshops and seminars.
- Administrative Duties: Participate in departmental meetings, accreditation processes (NAAC/NBA), and university events as required.

Eligibility Criteria

1. Academic Qualifications

- Ph.D. in Mathematics or Applied Mathematics from a recognized University/Institute (as per UGC/AICTE norms).
- First Class (or equivalent) at both Bachelors and Masters levels.
- NET/SET qualification is highly desirable.

2. Experience

- Teaching Experience: Minimum 2–5 years of experience teaching B.Tech students is mandatory.
- Domain Expertise: Proven ability to teach Mathematics within the context of Computing (e.g., Graph Theory for Algorithms, Statistics for Data Science).

3. Skills & Competencies

- Excellent communication and presentation skills in English.
- Proficiency in mathematical software (MATLAB, R, Mathematica, or Maple).
- Ability to work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary academic environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills to engage with a diverse student body.
