Work Scope of Assistant Teacher

An Assistant Teacher needs to:

  • Join the centre staff in receiving and sending off children during receiving and pickup time (supervised by trained staff) but should not be allowed to communicate directly with parents
  • Assist in the execution of routine care duties e.g. feeding/meal time, diapering/toileting, bathing/washing, sleeping/napping
  • Assist in the preparation of learning activities, teaching aids and learning corners
  • Assist in cleaning/disinfecting of resources/toys
  • Assist in planning and implementing developmentally appropriate activity plans for the class assigned. May be allowed to carry out the activity plans with the supervision of mentor teacher
  • Assist in documenting observation of children or activities while carrying out activities with children
  • Upkeep professionalism during course of work by:

    • a)Maintaining strict confidentiality about the children
