**About the Role**
As Associate Director, Communications, you will lead the development and execution of integrated communications strategies that inform, inspire, and engage both internal and external audiences. You will play a pivotal role in elevating our company’s reputation, building brand awareness, and supporting business growth in Japan.
**Key Responsibilities**
**Internal & Executive Communications**
+ Partner with the Japan Country Leader to craft and deliver clear, inspiring messages to employees.
+ Develop and manage a regular cadence of internal communications (newsletters, leadership updates, intranet content, live events).
+ Create compelling stories that showcase the impact of our people and projects.
+ Oversee executive communications across multiple channels (text, digital, video, live events).
**External Communications & Brand PR**
+ Design and execute PR strategies to enhance our brand and reputation in Japan.
+ Build relationships with key media, industry influencers, and partners.
+ Identify and pitch newsworthy stories and thought leadership to local media.
+ Manage and mentor the local PR agency, ensuring alignment with business goals and timely delivery of results.
+ Monitor media coverage, analyze PR effectiveness, and adjust strategies to maximize positive exposure.
**Leadership & Collaboration**
+ Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders on communications and reputation management.
+ Collaborate with global communications, field marketing, and subject matter experts to ensure message consistency and leverage best practices.
+ Identify, train, and support company spokespeople for media engagements.
+ Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within the communications function.
**Qualifications**
+ Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field.
+ 10+ years of experience in corporate communications, public relations, or executive communications, preferably within multinational organizations.
+ Proven ability to develop and execute integrated communications strategies in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.
+ Fluency in both Japanese and English is essential, including strong writing and editing skills in both languages.
+ Experience working with senior executives and managing agency partners.
+ Creative thinker with a passion for new trends in marketing, PR, and digital communications.
+ Strong project management skills and the ability to lead multiple initiatives simultaneously.
