The base

We are based at 7 Bryant Park in the heart of NYC. And we have everything we need to work flexibly. We operate a hybrid working model, with a requirement that our US Lawyer be in the office 3 days per week. This is to sustain our culture of innovation, collaboration, knowledge sharing, and building relationships with the business.


The team

This is an opportunity to work interdependently with a small and engaged in-house legal team that sits within a global Legal and Governance function at a global asset management firm. The position offers an opportunity to work on diverse matters with close client contact.


Responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice in connection with all aspects of product development, launch and maintenance of private funds, including drafting, reviewing and negotiation of associated documentation.
  • Draft, review and negotiate advisory and sub-advisory agreements for institutional and intermediary asset management business.
  • Work closely and collaboratively with all members of the Legal and Governance team, as well as business colleagues, in the Americas and throughout the firm globally.
  • Provide legal advice in responding to RFPs and client/consultant inquiries.
  • Draft, review and negotiate vendor, confidentiality and other third-party agreements.
  • Review and negotiate investment documentation, including brokerage and trading agreements.
  • Work on litigation matters, in consultation with outside counsel as needed.
  • Provide legal advice for special projects and transactions.
  • Advise on impact of legal and regulatory developments.
  • Prepare and ensure on-going applicability of internal Legal policies and procedures.


    • Basic Qualifications

  • JD with 4-8 years asset management legal experience, including significant experience with private funds.


    • Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of the Investment Advisers Act of 1940, the Investment Company Act of 1940 and ERISA.
  • Interest in and ability to work collaboratively in a global organization.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Law firm experience. 


    • Compensation

    Schroders offers a base salary in a range of $200,000 to $230,000 for this position.

    The referenced salary range is based on the Company's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level.
