In 2016, the Ministry of Education entrusted IIT Bombay with a pivotal mission: to establish the Research Park within the sprawling campus in Powai, Mumbai. Job Description:

Provide technical oversight and coordination for infrastructure projects, interior fit-out works, and facility management functions at ASPIRE – IIT Bombay Research Park. Act as the key interface between internal teams, member companies, project consultants, contractors, facility service providers, to ensure that projects and operations are executed in line with approved designs, statutory requirements, safety standards, and ASPIRE guidelines.

The role is responsible for enabling smooth project execution, reliable facility operations, and high-quality user experience by ensuring compliance, timely delivery, and effective coordination across stakeholders, while maintaining robust documentation and reporting frameworks.


Roles and Responsibilities:

1. Project Oversight & Fit-out Coordination:

  • Oversee infrastructure projects and interior fit-out works of member companies.
  • Ensure execution is in line with approved drawings, design specifications, and statutory approvals.
  • Conduct site inspections regularly to monitor progress and quality.
  • Maintain project documentation, including drawings, BOQs, and compliance reports.
  • Coordinate with architects, contractors, and project teams for clarifications or design changes.
  • Track project timelines and ensure on-time completion.


2. Facility Management & Maintenance Coordination:

  • Coordinate with technical teams of facility management service providers for preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
  • Oversee AMC contracts for electrical, HVAC, plumbing, firefighting systems, lifts, and other infrastructure systems.
  • Ensure timely reporting of breakdowns, monitoring of service levels, and resolution of complaints.
  • Maintain a record of maintenance schedules, costs, and vendor performance.
  • Conduct periodic audits of services and ensure compliance with ASPIRE standards.
  • Report safety concerns, non-compliance, or unsafe practices observed at site.


3. Reporting & Documentation:

  • Prepare structured daily, weekly and monthly reports covering project progress, maintenance activities, safety observations, and vendor performance.
  • Maintain up-to-date records of drawings, approvals, contracts, bills, and related documentation.
  • Support coordination with finance and administrative teams for documentation, approvals, billing, and follow-ups.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of processes, documentation standards, and operational workflows within the Research Park.


Skills and Expertise:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.Tech / B.E.) in Civil Engineering or Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution.
  • Two to three years of experience as a Site Engineer or Project Engineer, with end-to-end oversight of civil and electrical works from mobilization to completion.
  • Strong understanding of civil construction activities including finishing works, interior fit-outs, coordination of structural and architectural elements, and site execution practices.
  • Ability to review, interpret, and coordinate execution based on architectural, civil, and electrical drawings, BOQs, and technical specifications.
  • Experience in coordinating multiple contractors and trades on site, ensuring sequencing, quality control, and adherence to timelines.
  • Effective communication and coordination skills to interface with architects, consultants, contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and basic project tracking and reporting tools.
