Essential Job Duties:
Performs all essential job duties of an Athletic Performance Specialist (see below). Protects athletes, patients, and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols Completes appropriate certifications relevant to job duties and is committed to independent continuation of education courses as needed Acts as a communicative liaison between the Good Samaritan organization, Sports Performance/Physical Medicine department/clinic, and the school/coaches/athletic director Assists with ensuring that contract services are provided and notifies Senior Therapist and/or Manager in a timely manner when it is anticipated that there will be a lapse in the ability to provide services due to time off or conflicting events. Contributes to team effort through frequent communication, participation in regular department meetings, and assisting with initiatives to provide community care through events such as annual physicals. Ensures knowledge or operation of equipment by completing annual competency trainings for specific age populations and equipment. Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. Organization and cleanliness are evident within the sports recovery office and clinical space. Notifies Manager or the appropriate school staff of equipment needs. Monitors supplies, cleans patient care areas and equipment within regulatory requirements. Provides pre- and post- injury services to athletes, within scope, as needed and maintains strong relationships between department, schools, youth organizations, athletes, and providers Refers patients to appropriate resources for medical care outside of their scope and follows established protocols for provision of care. Responsible for reporting breakdown of necessary support services and providing suggestions for improvement in services to Senior Therapist & Manager. Completes other duties and special projects as assigned from Manager or Director. This may also include requests from the Executive Leadership team, contract partners (. school leadership), or Physicians. Secondary Job Duties That May be Reassigned:
Assists with development and implementation of new programs & clinics. Assists in orienting/training staff members. Assists with departmental Performance Improvement Program. Participates in community engagement activities Maintains adequate supplies, assists in keeping department clean and ready for patient treatment. Job Specifications:
Education: Successful completion of a healthcare-related educational program (., Athletic Training, Physical Therapist Assistant, Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic, or Strength and Conditioning Coaching), with demonstrated proficiency in sports recovery and injury prevention. Ongoing participation in continuing education to maintain and enhance professional competencies. Active state licensure required where applicable.Experience: Clinical experience within a sports setting preferred.Completion of required certifications and competencies within the first year of employment. These may include injury prevention and recovery, quick splinting, athletic taping, CPR, concussion testing, and head injury assessment.
