About the Role
As an Automation Software Manager you will lead a team of Software Application Engineers bringing solutions to life with Bright Machines products. We have a passion for bringing together cross‑functional teams to creatively solve problems. In this role, you will work closely with different groups throughout project lifecycles to create innovative automation solutions.
What You Will Be Doing
- Lead the Software, Site Reliability, and vision teams in achieving objectives and metrics of key deliverables.
- Lead programming architecture & design that will be integrated into our technology.
- Design and implement HMI.
- Manage work around APIs & integration with ERP, shop‑floor management systems and machine controls (PLCs, drivers, robot controllers, industrial communications protocols).
- Collaborate with the SW development teams in the US (interfaces, security, company standards).
- Create automatic data gathering, statistics, analytics, and representation through metrics & dashboards.
- Maintain related controlled documentation (logics & functional schematics, state machines, business scenarios, sequencing & timing diagrams, process flows, acceptance test procedures, technical / operational / maintenance manuals).
- Support system commissioning, qualification and debugging.
- Manage the software configuration control and release using GIT.
- Travel may be required for line deployments and working with our team in other locations (up to 30% at certain times).
What We Are Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering or other related engineering degrees.
- A master's in software programming.
- At least 5+ years of experience leading software teams in multidisciplinary environments with a track record of creating a results‑oriented climate with motivated engineers.
- Experience with industrial automation & industrial equipment controls, and manufacturing/process.
- At least 5 years of PLC/IPC logic & programming, troubleshooting, and configuration with industry‑leading vendors (Beckhoff – main focus, Modicon, Siemens, Omron, Mitsubishi, Toshiba, Aromat, etc.).
- Serial & Bus Communication protocols: TCP/IP, RestAPI, EtherCAT, Ethernet/Profinet, RS232/422/485. Nice to have – Modbus, CAN Open, Profibus and others.
- Vision systems – image processing tools & environments.
- Robotics programming – Fanuc, Nachi, Epson, Kuka, Denso, others.
- Familiarity with data gathering, analytics, reporting and dashboarding.
- Remote monitoring applications.
- Aptitude for process, controls and machines.
- Leadership skills, ability to hire, train and retain top talent.

- Well organized, attention to detail and methodical.
- Capable of analyzing, debugging and solving complex problems.
- A team player, leading teams of engineers.
- Great communicator (oral and written).
- Proficient English skills and ability to communicate effectively with coworkers around the world.
It Would Be Great If You Had
- Proficiency in one of common OOP languages like C#/Python for high‑level SW usage of our stack as well as writing device drivers, and Structured Text for PLC real‑time device drivers – last is an advantage.
- Familiarity with micro‑service SW architecture.
- Proficiency in GIT flow and usage.
- Basic knowledge of Linux O.S.
