Job Summary:
We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Electrical Design Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in electrical design calculations, panel design, equipment selection, SLD preparation, and onsite support. The role involves working with engineering drawings, preparing BOQs/BOMs, and adhering to national and international standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Design Calculations:
Perform load demand, voltage drop, and power factor calculations
Conduct transformer & DG sizing for substations
Carry out panel heat load, IP rating, and bus bar sizing
Perform cable tray & conduit sizing
Apply design considerations like diversity and load factors
2. Design & Component Selection:
Design of power/control cabinets and busbar systems
Selection of instrumentation (CT, PT, ammeter, voltmeter, MFM, etc.)
Selection of switchgear and protection devices (fault current, overload, earth leakage)
Motor starter selection (DOL, Star-Delta, VFD)
Panel cooling system, cable distribution and specification selection
Design of APFC panels
BOQ/BOM preparation and technical documentation
Knowledge of PLC selection (preferably Siemens)
3. Drawing Preparation:
Prepare Single Line Diagrams (SLD)
Create interlocking, control, and protection schematics
GA drawings for MCC/PLC cabinets using E-Plan
Layout drawings for substation, cable trays, earthing, and lighting
Instrumentation & SCADA schematics
DG synchronization, load sharing, and load shedding schematics
4. Onsite Support:
Support in fault finding: overload, short circuit, tripping, earth leakage
Conduct onsite power analysis and provide installation support
Assist in commissioning of electrical systems
5. Technical Knowledge:
Understanding of power analyzers and protection relay settings
Exposure to standards like IS, IEC, NEC, NFPA
Familiarity with high-efficiency systems (e.g., IE3 motors)
Knowledge of hazardous area equipment selection
Coordination types, electrical safety guidelines, and installation practices
Experience with internal arc testing and synchronization of DG (preferred)
6. Software Proficiency:
Microsoft Excel & Word
E-Plan for schematics
ETAP for simulation & analysis
TIA Portal (Siemens HW configuration) – added advantage
7. Standards & Compliance:
Working knowledge of IS 5572, NFPA 497/30, NBC, IS 3034
EN standards like EN 61439, EN 62061, EN 60204
High Voltage Directives and EMC Directive compliance
8. Documentation:
Preparation of detailed BOM for Control, PCC, MCC cabinets, cables, lights, sockets
QAP preparation and support documentation for engineering and site execution
