Job Title: AVP – Payroll (Outsourcing)

Location: Gurgaon (Gurugram)


Key Responsibilities

Payroll Operations & Delivery


- Own end-to-end payroll delivery for multiple Indian and international clients in an outsourcing environment.


- Ensure 100% statutory compliance across Indian payroll (PF, ESI, PT, LWF, Income Tax, TDS, gratuity, bonus, etc.).


- Oversee international payroll taxation basics, coordination with global vendors, and country-specific compliance.


- Act as an escalation point for complex payroll issues, audits, and compliance matters.


- Drive continuous improvement in payroll processes, accuracy, timeliness, and cost efficiency.


- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 50+ payroll professionals across multiple accounts.


- Foster a high-accountability, high-quality delivery culture within the payroll operations team.


- Manage senior stakeholders including CXOs, CHROs, and CFOs


- Lead client governance, SLA reviews, QBRs, and strategic discussions.


- Partner with clients on payroll transformation, compliance advisory, and process optimization.


- Ensure audit readiness at all times (internal, statutory, and client audits).


- Proactively identify payroll, taxation, and compliance risks and implement mitigation plans.


- Stay updated on changes in labor laws, tax regulations, and global payroll practices.


- Support pre-sales, solutioning, and transitions for new payroll outsourcing engagements.


- Collaborate with technology, product, and sales teams to enhance payroll platforms and offerings.


- Contribute to growth strategy, margin improvement, and scalability of the payroll outsourcing business


Skills Required


- 14+ years of overall experience, with significant tenure in payroll outsourcing industry (mandatory).


- Strong hands-on experience in Indian payroll processing.


- Solid understanding of Indian and international payroll taxation.


- Proven experience in managing 15–20+ member teams.


- Demonstrated success in managing senior and global stakeholders.


- Experience handling large, complex client portfolios with strict SLAs.


- Deep domain expertise in payroll operations and statutory compliance.


- Strong people leadership and coaching capabilities.


- Excellent client-facing, communication, and presentation skills.


- High attention to detail with a strong risk and control mindset.


- Ability to operate at both strategic and hands-on levels.


- Exposure to payroll technology platforms and automation initiatives.


- Graduate/Postgraduate in Commerce, Finance, HR, or related discipline.


- Relevant certifications in payroll, taxation, or compliance will be an added advantage.
