Job Title : Azure Dev Box Engineer
Experience : 8- 10 Years
Location : Only Chennai
Mode of Interview: Virtual
We are seeking a skilled Azure Platform Engineer to lead the implementation and management of Microsoft Dev Box within our organization. In this role, you will design, configure, and maintain secure, ready-to-code cloud-based workstations that improve developer productivity. You will be responsible for creating personalized dev box images, optimizing networking, and implementing strict security governance, reducing setup time for our development teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Infrastructure Setup: Create and manage Dev Centers, Project structures, and Dev Box Pools in the Azure Portal.
- Image Management: Develop, maintain, and publish custom VM images (gold images) using Azure Compute Galleries tailored for specific development teams.
- Customization & Automation: Implement configuration-as-code using YAML, Git, and Chocolatey/Winget to preconfigure developer environments.
- Networking & Connectivity: Configure Azure Network Connections (VNets, Express Route) to ensure secure access to on-premises resources, source code, and databases.
- Security & Governance: Apply Azure RBAC, Microsoft Intune policies, and conditional access to secure dev boxes and manage user access.
- Performance Optimization: Monitor and tune Dev Box compute resources (v CPUs, RAM) to ensure optimal performance for high-load development tasks.
- Collaboration: Work with engineering leads to define and deploy custom toolsets for different developer roles.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Azure Expertise: Proven experience with Microsoft Azure infrastructure (Virtual Networks, Azure Compute Gallery, RBAC).
- Dev Box Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Dev Box architecture and Windows 365 Enterprise.
- Microsoft Intune: Proficiency in managing Windows devices through Microsoft Intune (policies, apps).
- Scripting: Experience with Power Shell, Azure CLI, or ARM templates for automation.
- Dev Ops Tools: Familiarity with Azure Dev Ops or Git Hub for storing customization scripts.
- Networking: Strong understanding of hybrid networking (VPN, Express Route).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate or Azure Developer Associate.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Ia C) tools like Terraform
