Backend Engineer - Junior

Backend Engineer - Junior Hybrid schedule:

• On-site Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday Active Secret Clearance  Nationwide IT Services, NIS, is seeking a junior Backend Engineer for a potential opportunity.  In this position, the Engineer will: Design and develop Spring Boot microservices (Java 21+) that expose RESTful APIs to frontend consumers.


• Decouple and break down monolithic designs into domain-driven services (e.g., breaking a massive User module into distinct Identity, Profile, and Authorization services).
• Write Unit Tests for internal development testing.
• Implement resilience patterns (Circuit Breakers, Retry Logic) using tools like Resilience4j to ensure services stay up even when government networks degrade.
• Perform database migrations using Hibernate ORM.
• Write SQL Stored Procedures when necessary for performance optimization.
