Senior Go (Golang) Backend Developer — 7 Years Location: San Francisco, CA — Onsite Employment Type: Full‑time About the Role We’re hiring a Senior Go Backend Developer to design and scale cloud‑native microservices for a high‑throughput SaaS platform. You’ll drive architecture, reliability, and performance for services that handle large volumes of events and data in real time. What You’ll Do Design, build, and operate production‑grade Go microservices and APIs (REST/gRPC) with strong testing and observability. Scale distributed systems via sharding, partitioning, horizontal scale, caching, and back‑pressure patterns. Integrate with Kafka (streams/queues), Cassandra/NoSQL, Elasticsearch, and relational stores where appropriate. Own performance & resilience: load/capacity testing, SLIs/SLOs, tracing, metrics, and alerting. Automate CI/CD, IaC, containerization, blue/green or canary deployments. Collaborate with product, SRE, security, and data teams; write clear design docs and lead peer reviews. Mentor engineers and help elevate coding standards and developer experience. Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s in CS or equivalent depth in data structures, algorithms, distributed systems. 7 years in backend engineering for service‑oriented/microservices architectures. Expert‑level Go (Golang): modules, profiling/pprof, race detector, benchmarking, concurrency primitives. Proficiency with at least one of: Java, Scala, Kotlin, Python, Node.js. Hands‑on with Kafka, Cassandra, Elasticsearch (or comparable tech at production scale). Proven ability to scale systems (circuit breaking, retries, idempotency, rate limiting, partitioning). Strong experience on AWS, GCP, or OCI (networking, IAM, managed services, cost/perf tradeoffs). Deep understanding of multithreading/concurrency/parallelism and failure modes in distributed systems. Proficient with Git workflows and CI/CD (Jenkins, Argo, GitHub Actions, etc.); strong testing culture. Preferred / Bonus Domain exposure to cybersecurity or intelligence platforms. Observability: Prometheus, Grafana, Graphite, OpenTelemetry (traces/metrics/logs). Kubernetes (prod), Helm, Argo Rollouts; service mesh (Istio/Linkerd). Open‑source contributions (GitHub, Stack Overflow, blogging, talks). How We Work (SF) Hybrid: typically Tue–Thu onsite in SoMa/Financial District (adjustable by team). Pragmatic engineering, strong code health, RFC/design docs, and rapid but responsible delivery. Ownership mindset—you ship services and steward their reliability in production.
