Job Summary
We are looking for a highly experienced Backend Support Engineer with strong expertise in
supporting backend systems using Node.js for large-scale eCommerce platforms. The role
focuses on backend troubleshooting, API support, integration management, server-side
performance, and ensuring end-to-end stability of all backend components.
Experience with Medusa.js is an added advantage, but not mandatory.
Key Responsibilities
1. Backend Application Support
• Provide L2/L3 support for backend services, APIs, and microservices powering the
eCommerce platform.
• Diagnose issues involving server logic, API failures, slow responses, and process-level
errors.
• Resolve production incidents quickly and ensure minimal business impact.
2. eCommerce Platform Support
• Support backend flows related to product, pricing, cart, checkout, order, payment,
inventory, and fulfillment.
• Troubleshoot issues across multiple layers: API → service → database → 3rd-party
integrations.
• Ensure data consistency and reliability across all eCommerce workflows.
3. API & Integration Support
• Support RESTful APIs consumed by web apps, mobile apps, and partner systems.
• Troubleshoot integration failures for payment gateways, logistics providers, ERP/SAP,
CRM, or inventory systems.
• Debug webhook failures, event-driven flows, and service-to-service communication
issues.
4. Database & Query Support
• Work with PostgreSQL/MySQL for query debugging, performance tuning, indexing
issues, and data validation.
• Support schema migrations and resolve data mismatch issues.
5. Production Monitoring & Reliability
• Monitor backend logs, system health, and performance metrics.
• Identify bottlenecks, recurring failures, and propose long-term corrective actions.
• Coordinate with DevOps for environment issues, deployments, and configuration fixes.
6. Incident Management & RCA
Information Classification: RL\Public
• Handle critical production issues under SLAs.
• Perform root cause analysis (RCA), document findings, and drive permanent fixes.
• Maintain documentation for troubleshooting guides and known issues.
7. Collaboration
• Work closely with backend developers, QA, DevOps, product managers, and integration
teams.
• Communicate issue impact, resolution plans, and progress clearly.
Requirements
Mandatory Skills
• 7–9 years of backend support experience in production-grade, high-traffic
applications.
• Strong experience in backend support with Node.js, Express, and REST-based services.
• Mandatory experience in eCommerce systems (cart, order, checkout, payments,
inventory, etc.).
• Strong debugging skills using logs, traces, and performance metrics.
• Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL or MySQL.
• Good understanding of microservices, authentication, and API gateways.
• Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS/Azure/GCP) and logging/monitoring tools.
• Knowledge of containerized environments (Docker/Kubernetes).
Good-to-Have Skills
• Experience with Medusa.js or headless commerce architectures.
• Experience with message queues (Kafka, SQS, RabbitMQ).
• Exposure to ERP/SAP or logistics integrations.
Soft Skills
• Strong communication and coordination skills.
• High ownership, proactive attitude, and strong problem-solving ability.
• Ability to work under pressure on production incidents
