Job Description

We are partnering with a specialized manufacturing company to find a skilled and reliable Batch Maker/Production Operator to join their production team. This is a critical, hands-on role responsible for the precise mixing, blending, and compounding of chemicals, powders, and color pigments according to strict formulas. If you are meticulous, possess basic mathematical skills, and are certified to operate a forklift, this is an excellent opportunity in a stable manufacturing environment. Reliability and excellent attendance are absolutely essential.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Batch Maker will be responsible for the entire compounding process, from raw material preparation to finishing the final product.

  • Batch Preparation: Review daily batch tickets and ensure all necessary raw materials (chemicals, powders, color pigments) are available and staged for daily activities.

  • Weighing and Measuring: Precisely weigh or measure materials, ingredients, and products to ensure strict conformance to formula requirements, utilizing basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide, ratio, percent).

  • Mixing and Blending: Set up, start, and operate or tend machines to mix or blend ingredients for specified durations. This includes pouring specified amounts of materials into machinery and equipment.

  • Process Monitoring: Observe production and monitor equipment status to ensure safe and efficient operation. Stop mixing machines when specified product qualities are obtained and transfer mixtures.

  • Quality Control: Collect samples of materials or products for laboratory testing. Visually examine materials or products to ensure conformance to established standards.

  • Product Finishing: Fill appropriate containers with the final product. Weigh and measure the finished product and securely seal lids onto containers.

  • Equipment Use: Safely operate a forklift to move and lift raw materials and transport finished products throughout the facility.

  • Maintenance and Safety: Clean and maintain machinery, equipment, and work areas to ensure proper functioning and safe working conditions. Follow all safety guidelines using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

  • Communication: Maintain an open line of communication with Supervisors and Maintenance teams.

 

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Certification: Must be Forklift certified with proven experience operating a forklift safely.

  • Physical Demands: Ability to repeatedly lift up to 50 pounds throughout the shift. Must be able to complete tasks requiring hours of standing, lifting, carrying, and walking.

  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to perform basic math (whole numbers, fractions, decimals, rate, ratio, percent) for accurate material measurement.

  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions and deal with basic standardized problems.

  • Reliability and Attendance: Stellar attendance and reliability are mandatory for this role.

  • Teamwork: Ability to work well in a team atmosphere and demonstrate flexibility in daily duties.

  • Reading Comprehension: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.

Compensation / Pay Rate (Up to): $17.00
