Job Description: Software Configuration Specialist – Benchling - Life Sciences


Role Summary:


Seeking a Software Configuration Specialist with strong Benchling expertise to support Experiment Design & Execution within Life Sciences R&D. The role focuses on configuring Benchling modules, enabling experiment workflows, and supporting scientific users in early research environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Configure Benchling Notebook, Registry, Inventory, and Workflows.

  • Support experiment design and structured data capture for early R&D teams.

  • Optimize digital workflows for molecular biology, assay execution, and sample tracking.

  • Maintain version-controlled configuration updates via GitHub and GitHub Actions.

  • Collaborate with AWS/DevSecOps teams for deployments and integrations.

  • Troubleshoot issues and conduct root-cause analysis.

  • Apply Six Sigma/automation mindset for continuous improvement.
  • Required Skills:

  • Benchling configuration expertise (non-negotiable).

  • Experience with early research workflows or lab operations.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.

  • AWS fundamentals, DevSecOps familiarity, GitHub/GitHub Actions.

  • Root-cause analysis and documentation skills.
  • Preferred:

  • Exposure to LIMS/ELN tools and automation workflows.
