Job Description
***THIS IS A TEMPORARY, 6-WEEK ASSIGNMENT WITHOUT BENEFITS***
What You Will Do:
- Collaborates with staff to build their capacity relative to the utilization of research based behavior intervention strategies, continually assessing student response to intervention, and make modification as needed to ensure students are successful.
- Coaches staff on classroom management strategies and behavior support plan implementation
- Understands and communicates the FBA/BSP process
- Completes FBAs and FAs as needed
- Supports staff in developing, monitoring, adjusting, and documenting the effectiveness of student behavior plans
- Trains and works with staff on data collection methods and data analysis
- Trains ASD and LEC program staff on the use of Berrien RESA's behavior and data collection-related documents and procedures
- Be knowledgeable in and provide recommendations on instructional methods, materials, teaching aids and related equipment as it relates to students with disabilities
- Develops and presents training on positive support strategies
- Collaborates with staff regarding various methods for including students with disabilities in the educational environment
- Competent using a variety of technology applications related to both classroom management and the instructional process
- Understand and communicate state and district policies on the use of seclusion and restraint
- Maintain effective communication and confidentiality at all times
- Comply with all Michigan and Federal Special Education law/requirements
- Follows established policies/procedures regarding student medical concerns, safety, student rights, emergency/disaster plans, etc.
- Effectively participate in meetings, committees, staffing and other required district and building activities.
- Lead small and large groups (PD, committees, meetings, etc.)
- Participate in ongoing professional learning and training focused on behavior knowledge, supports and strategies
- Regular and predictable attendance
- Other duties as assigned
Under the general supervision of the Supervisor of Ancillary/Health Services.
Need to Have:
- Credentials as a certified behavioral analyst (BCBA)
- OR valid Michigan teaching certification in Special Education
- Minimum 3 years experience of teaching in special education setting or clinical behavioral setting preferred
Working Conditions:
- Works in a school and/or office environment.
- Requires daily travel.
