Job Description:



  • An Embedded Software Engineering Architect for medical devices serves as a senior technical leader who guides the design, development and life cycle management of various diagnostic and monitoring medical devices, ensuring adherence to both technical and regulatory standards. Candidates must possess strong system engineering skills and the ability to interface directly with customers to understand their needs and pain points. They will be responsible for providing engineering solutions, spanning from requirement gathering to product realization, and will function as a Product Owner/System Architect. In addition to their core hardware/software expertise, candidates must effectively manage all system elements and collaborate with offshore hardware, software, and mechanical teams to ensure customer satisfaction during delivery. Furthermore, candidates should develop proposals to expand customer engagement. Experience with renal devices (dialysis) is highly preferred.

The ideal candidate will exemplify leadership and serve as an engineering mentor, working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and implement product engineering solutions.


Job Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field with bilingual capability (Japanese and English)

  • 15+ Years of Embedded software development experience.

  • Strong knowledge of Embedded C and have good analytical skills.

  • Experience in embedded software design and development using OS/RTOS/QNX on MCU/SoC’s.

  • Good at designing system architecture, implementation, unit testing, verification and validation.

  • Experience in developing embedded software for sensor control and motor control.

  • In-depth understanding of different communication protocols such as SPI, I2C, CAN, Ethernet, USB etc.

  • Good understanding of OS concepts, multithread applications, IPC mechanisms, scheduling and memory management

  • Basic knowledge of Hardware with respect to board bring-up and diagnostics.

  • Experience with hardware debugging tools and interface like JTAG, SWD.

  • Good interpersonal communication (both Japanese and English) skills and experience in collaborating with the team.

  • Client handling and coordination with offshore development team

  • Providing technical guidance to the development team, mentoring and guiding engineers, and being a role model for technical excellence.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Experience in embedded GUI development.

  • Familiarity with regulatory standards and guidelines for medical product development (IEC 62304, IEC62366, IEC 60601-1-6, ISO 14971)

  • 5+ Years of Embedded software development experience in medical domain.


Language Skill: 



  • Japanese ability - Business level / JLPT N2 or above (Reading & Writing)

  • English – Business level (Good communication and presentation skills required)
