Bilingual Payroll Coordinator (Remote – Canada)

Location: Toronto, ON / Fully Remote - Work from home

Compensation: $70,000

About the Company: Our client is a privately held real estate group with a diverse portfolio of residential, commercial, and mixed-use properties across Canada. They are seeking a detail-oriented Bilingual Payroll Coordinator to join their finance team and help manage payroll for employees in both Ontario and Quebec. This is a fully remote opportunity supporting a dynamic, multi-entity organization with approximately 300 employees , using Desjardins Payroll .

About the Role: The Payroll Coordinator will manage end-to-end payroll for employees across Ottawa and Quebec, ensuring compliance with provincial legislation and internal policies. The ideal candidate is bilingual (English/French) , has hands‑on experience with Quebec payroll , and can navigate multi-jurisdiction payroll processes with accuracy and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer payroll for Ontario and Quebec employees, ensuring compliance with provincial legislation and collective agreements where applicable.
  • Process and reconcile payroll for approx. 300 employees using Desjardins Payroll .
  • Maintain payroll-related G/L accounts and assist with month-end journal entries.
  • Support internal and external payroll audits with accurate documentation and reporting.
  • Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to resolve payroll discrepancies.
  • Manage employee records, deductions, and ROEs.
  • Generate payroll reports and perform data analysis to identify process improvements.

Qualifications

  • Fluent in English and French (oral and written).
  • 3+ years of payroll experience, with strong exposure to Quebec payroll legislation .
  • Experience managing payroll for 200+ employees across multiple provinces.
  • Hands‑on experience with Desjardins Payroll .
  • Knowledge of G/L reconciliations, month-end journal entries, and payroll reporting.
  • Strong attention to detail, confidentiality, and organizational skills.
  • Payroll certification (PCP or PLP) is an asset.
