Biochemist - AI Data Trainer

Alignerr is seeking PhD-level Biochemists for a remote contract role in AI data training.

$35.00/hr – $70.00/hr

About The Job

At Alignerr we partner with leading AI research teams and labs to build and train cutting‑edge AI models. In this role, you will document failure modes in AI reasoning to help harden model accuracy for scientific research. No prior AI experience is required.

What You’ll Do

  • Design advanced biochemistry problems across domains such as nucleic acid chemistry, proteomics, and drug‑target interactions to test AI performance.
  • Create rigorous “golden responses” that serve as benchmarks for high‑level scientific reasoning.
  • Evaluate AI‑generated biochemical pathways, molecular structures, and mathematical proofs for technical accuracy, safety, and adherence to scientific standards.
  • Identify logical fallacies in AI reasoning—such as incorrect stoichiometry or misunderstood stereochemistry—and provide structured feedback to improve the model’s reasoning for life‑science tasks.

Requirements

  • PhD (completed or in final stages) in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a closely related field.
  • Strong foundational knowledge in areas such as structural biology, enzymology, cellular metabolism, or bioinformatics.
  • Adept at analytical writing—able to communicate highly technical concepts clearly and concisely.
  • High level of precision when checking complex chemical equations, molecular diagrams, and experimental protocols.
  • No AI experience required.

Preferred

  • Experience with data annotation, data quality, or evaluation systems.
  • Familiarity with computational biochemistry tools (e.g., PyMOL, AlphaFold, BLAST).
