The Role:

We are looking for a detail‑oriented and experienced Bookkeeper – Reviewer to serve as a key quality control and support function within our remote accounting team. In this role, you will perform full‑charge bookkeeping and payroll services while reviewing work for accuracy, supporting other bookkeepers, and ensuring client satisfaction. You’ll act as a trusted resource for both clients and peers—offering guidance, resolving issues, and maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and service delivery.

You should be comfortable working with cloud‑based systems, independently managing your workflow, and mentoring others with an ownership mentality. Location:

Must be in Colombia – Remote.

Environment:

Colombian and International Teams.

Language:

Advanced English (B2+ - C1).

Timezone:

Monday to Friday – 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM EST.

Contract:

Non‑fixed Term Colombian Contract.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience delivering accounting services using QuickBooks Desktop, QuickBooks Online, or Xero.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, bookkeeping techniques, and financial reporting.
  • Ability to prepare journal entries, accruals, and summarize complex financial data accurately.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and time management.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and collaborate across remote teams.
  • Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred:

  • Experience providing client training or technical support on accounting software.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities while maintaining high standards of accuracy.
  • Passion for working with small businesses and providing value‑driven service.
  • Familiarity with cloud‑based financial systems and remote work tools.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Relevant accounting or bookkeeping certifications are a plus.

Experience:

  • 2+ years of hands‑on experience providing full‑charge bookkeeping and payroll services for small to mid‑sized businesses.
  • Proven experience reviewing and validating financial records for accuracy and compliance.
  • Experience working with U.S.-based clients and understanding U.S. accounting practices is highly desirable.
  • Prior experience in a remote or distributed team environment is a plus.

Skills:

  • Strong proficiency in QuickBooks (Desktop & Online) and/or Xero.
  • Solid knowledge of U.S. GAAP and general accounting standards.
  • Advanced Excel skills (formulas, reconciliations, data analysis).
  • Ability to analyze financial data and identify inconsistencies or risks.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Strong problem‑solving and process improvement mindset.
  • Ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines simultaneously.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver full‑charge, cloud‑based bookkeeping services to small business clients, including financial reporting, payroll, and sales tax processing.
  • Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Collect, analyze, and summarize financial data into clear, actionable reports for client delivery.

Quality Control & Review

  • Review bookkeeping work completed by peers to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.
  • Identify discrepancies or potential issues in financial data and take corrective action as necessary.
  • Provide recommendations to improve processes and increase efficiency across the team.

Team Guidance & Collaboration

  • Offer training, support, and mentorship to bookkeepers to enhance skill development and consistency.
  • Assist with onboarding new team members or technology transitions as needed.
  • Escalate complex issues to the Accounting Operations Manager in a timely and solution‑oriented manner.

Client Relations & Communication

  • Assist clients in utilizing hosted or web‑based accounting technologies.
  • Respond to client inquiries and provide exceptional support aligned with DOXA’s service standards.
  • Build and maintain effective client relationships based on trust, responsiveness, and professionalism.

Administrative & Ad Hoc Duties

  • Perform special projects and additional bookkeeping or process‑related tasks as assigned.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of accounting tools, standards, and industry trends.
