Job Description


We are seeking a Bookkeeper to manage bookkeeping and accounting functions for a portfolio of small business clients. This role focuses on accurate bookkeeping using Xero, data reconciliation, expense classification, and preparation of financial information for tax reporting. The ideal candidate has strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while supporting multiple client accounts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform monthly bookkeeping for 5–10 client accounts using Xero.
  • Download, organize, and reconcile bank and credit card transactions by the first week of each month.
  • Accurately classify expenses (e.g., meals, cost of goods sold, equipment, operating expenses).
  • Prepare monthly financial reports for review and reclassification.
  • Enter financial data into tax preparation software during tax season.
  • Assist with quarterly and year-end tax preparation and reporting requirements.
  • Follow up with clients regarding changes in their business (employees, contractors, equipment purchases, etc.).
  • Maintain up-to-date information for federal and state filings to support tax management.
  • Communicate proactively with clients (primarily in Spanish) to request missing information and provide updates.
  • Assist with payroll processing and payroll review as the role evolves.
  • Conduct research related to tax credits, compliance requirements, and IRS/state agency procedures.
  • Support internal process improvements as the business scales.

Required Qualifications (Excluyente):

  • English level C1 (must-have).
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Bookkeeper.
  • At least 6 months of experience in accounting support roles beyond bookkeeping.
  • At least 6 months of experience with tax preparation or tax software.
  • Proficiency in Xero or QuickBooks (required).
  • Strong understanding of expense classification and financial transactions.
  • Ability to manage multiple client accounts simultaneously and meet monthly deadlines.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and able to work independently.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with payroll processing.
  • Familiarity with U.S. tax compliance requirements.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills in Spanish and English.
